It's official for the first time in history: The GOP has become the party of rural white voters @alternet

18 percent of the population = majority control of Congress.  The numbers portend ultimately a bad result for the nation as whole.  The fact is that a minority will have a vastly disproportionate control over the lives and livelihood of the majority.  The inequality of such political control will result in a majority wanting to have fundamental changes to the voting process within a few years.

It's official for the first time in history: The GOP has become the party of rural white voters @alternet: It's the first time in history they've all gravitated to one party. If there was one demographic group that blunted the force of the “blue wave” in this month’s midterm elections, it was rural white voters. Even as Republicans lost control of the suburban areas that had been their strongholds in the 1980s and 1990s, Republicans extended their hold over rural America. The GOP is now on the verge of uniting nearly all rural white voters into a single party – which has never happened before.
